Course Description
A variety of concepts and tools used in 2-D composition are introduced to foster visual literacy, and deepen appreciation and understanding of the role of design in art and culture. Students create projects that explore elements and principles of design, including line, shape, volume, field, scale, space, edge, contrast, rhythm, texture, pattern, symmetry, asymmetry, proportion, sequence, and color. Lectures and critiques cultivate verbal communication skills to foster a facility with the language of art and design.
